Capable and Detail-Oriented Laundress & Housekeeper / in Atherton, California

A private, staffed household in the Bay Area seeks an experienced full-time Housekeeper & Laundress with a strong laundry focus. The family splits their time across residences in the Peninsula and the South Bay, and the housekeeping team follows the movements of the family between properties. This is an opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who takes pride in garment care and understands how to protect quality clothing. The ideal candidate reads care labels with confidence, handles delicate fabrics properly, and is confident in maintaining a meticulous household in a chemical-free environment. Must be dog friendly. This is a long-term, stable position with a strong compensation package.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Own the household laundry, including washing, drying, ironing, and steaming
• Support housekeeping team daily general cleaning of residences
• Read and follow care labels on every item before washing
• Care for delicate fabrics such as cashmere, lace, silk, and wool
• Sort garments by fabric, color, and care needs to prevent shrinking, fading, or damage
• Identify items that need dry cleaning or outside repair and coordinate them
• Organize and maintain closets, drawers, and linen storage
• Assist with packing and unpacking for family travel between residences
• Perform routine housekeeping duties as needed
• Use only chemical-free and non-toxic cleaning and laundry products
• Work as part of a collaborative, professional household staff

QUALIFICATIONS

• Proven experience as a Housekeeper or Laundress in a high-profile, staffed private home
• Organized with a meticulous eye for detail
• Strong knowledge of fabric care, stain treatment, and ironing techniques
• Able to read and follow English-language care labels
• Careful, consistent, and detail-oriented with every item
• Honest and accountable (reports mistakes instead of hiding them)
• Experience with chemical-free and green cleaning products
• Comfortable working in a home with children and dogs
• Flexible with a rotating schedule and travel between residences
• Discreet and professional with a strong sense of confidentiality
• Team player who works well within a staffed household

Location: Peninsula & South Bay, CA (travel between residences required)

Compensation: $50 to $65 per hour DOE, full benefits, and discretionary bonus

Schedule: Full-time 5 days per week on a rotating schedule when family is residence. At least one weekend day required.
